About Me

Hi! Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog!
My name is Yukari and I'm the girl behind "A Pinch of Kinder"!

I started this blog in August 2014 because I loved reading blog posts written by other teachers and thought I would give sharing my ideas a try! I hope you can find some ideas to try in your own classroom and maybe even save some time planning!

Ready to get started?

Here are a few of my most popular blog posts:

I taught Kindergarten in Southern Ontario (Canada) for 6 years.  I have taught both with an ECE teaching partner (first 4 years + 2019/2020) and a class of 15 on my own (2017/2018).

In 2020 I found out I was pregnant with my second son and decided to take a leave of absence until he was born. When my 18 month maternity leave was up, I asked to extend my parental leave for another year and learned that the language in the collective agreement had changed (due to the teacher shortage) and that my only options would be to go back full time or resign.

After much thought, I decided to resign. With our support system being small and my husband taking on more responsibility for his job, I knew that I would be constantly burnt out if I went back and tried to juggle motherhood, teaching full time and maintaining my TPT store. I am beyond grateful to be able to make this decision and have loved supporting educators with new resources when my kids are at school/daycare!

Here's a pic of my little fam, just to show you the family behind the blog :)

My goals in the classroom were to foster kindness/respect, independence/problem-solving skills and love of learning through inquiry, play and STEM activities so you'll see a lot of that here and over on my Instagram!

I am a huge teacher NERD and love learning about the newest strategies and research based interventions! Recently I've been diving into learning about the Science of Reading and have been trying to incorporate what I have learned as much as possible into new resources.

All my teaching resources can be found in my Teachers Pay Teachers store.  I love creating fun resources that are engaging, practical and meet the needs of my students (and recently for my own Kindergarten aged son!).  My goal, with every resource I create, is to make our job easier, more effective and to save us time!
